The Anderson County Special Education CO-OP provides services through its member districts (Cayuga, Elkhart, Frankston, Neches, Slocum and Westwood) to any eligible child, age 3-21, who has a developmental delay or disability and to children with vision and/or hearing disabilities from birth to age 21.  These services are available at no cost to the family and are provided through the district in which the child resides.

Services are available for the following disabilities:

  • Visual Impairment

  • Auditory Impairment

  • Deaf-Blindness

  • Orthopedic Impairment

  • Other Health Impaired

  • Mental Retardation

  • Learning Disability

  • Speech Impairment

  • Emotional Disturbance

  • Autism

  • Multiple Disabilities

  • Traumatic Brain Injury

Consideration of a student's need for special education can be initiated by a parent, guardian, teacher, physician, community agency or other appropriate individuals.  For those youngsters presently attending a public school, referral is usually channeled through the principal's office.  Referral of a child not attending a public school can be made directly to the Anderson County Special Education CO-OP by calling 903-876-3685.
